A Certified Lay Minister (CLM) is a trained and qualified United Methodist lay person assigned by a district superintendent to be either part of a ministry team in a congregation, or to a congregation that does not have a traditional clergy appointment.

Thank you for your willingness to support your laity on the journey toward becoming a CLM. Your recommendation indicates that you and the church council support your lay person’s enrollment in the CLM Course. This course engages students in facilitated learning on topics such as worship, preaching, small groups, mission, evangelism, stewardship, theology, congregational care, administration and more. Successful completion of the course is one step among many on the journey toward becoming a Certified Lay Minister.
