Having an Outward Mindset

The GNJ Way Forward Team believes having an outward mindset will be key to what is next for United Methodists in Greater New Jersey. An outward mindset considers people as people rather than people as objects.

The Mindset Pyramid

The foundation of an outward mindset is to focus on the relationship as opposed to focusing on correcting behaviors as demonstrated in the mindset pyramid.

Collusion occurs when opposing sides of an issue create a pattern of behavior that treats others as objects. Collusion escalates the differences in two sides rather than building relationships that lead to greater understanding.
