Haddonfield United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Student and Mission Ministries. The ideal candidate is dynamic and outgoing with the ability to connect to students in grades 6-12, meeting this population where they are using various interpersonal and social media channels for spiritual formation. The candidate must possess an enthusiasm and passion for hands-on mission and be able to connect multiple generations with opportunities to serve the local, national, and international communities, and must be willing to create new opportunities that may move people outside of their comfort zones. Creative use of social media and technology for ministry a plus.
Haddonfield United Methodist Church is an energetic regional church located in a vibrant suburban community 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia, with five unique worship services, and ministry programs for people of all ages.
Role Summary: The Director of Student Ministry and Mission is responsible for developing and directing a vital youth program for junior and senior high students, as well as empowering laity to engage in missional relationship and service opportunities through mission partnerships.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Make Disciples of youth (6th grade-12th grade)
- Provide spiritual care for youth
- Develop and implement youth ministry program
- Recruit, equip, and coordinate adult volunteer leaders for student ministry
- Plan/Lead Youth Mission/Trips/efforts
- Coordinate Collections/volunteer efforts
- Serve as staff liaison/support person for Mission Committee
- Maintain healthy relationships with mission partners, communicate needs to mission committee, wider congregation
- Organize hands-on mission experiences for people of all ages
- Serve as staff liaison/support person for Disabilities Task Force
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Prior experience with youth ministry, or related field
- Highly relatable to teenagers, and young adults
- Robust faith with ability to teach, share, and ignite faith within others
- Heart for ministry (either of the laity, or clergy)
- Flexible, adaptable, and relatable
- Strong organizational skills
- Innovative and creative, with a commitment to disciple-making
