In Loving Memory

February 5, 2020 | GNJ News

It is with deep sadness that we share that a member of GNJ’s finance and administration team, Karen Jankowski passed away suddenly on Monday, February 3.

A former social worker and teacher of new foster home parents, Karen was a woman of deep faith, staunch loyalty and unwavering spirit. The mother of three was a dedicated employee, a friend to many and a Sunday School teacher who treated every child as her own. Karen was also a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Spring Lake where she loved to spend time.

Her infectious laugh, wry sense of humor, kind and generous heart and passion for living and loving others resonated in the hearts of those who knew her and will continue to do so in her memory. She relished Sundays, time spent at church with the ladies, walks on the beach and gardening.

Paramount in Karen’s life was her deep love of being a steady, ever-present and supporting mom to Julia, William and Tessa and wife to John.

It was once said, “The purity of a person’s heart and soul can be quickly measured by how they regard animals.” Karen’s soul was pure, and her heart was kind and charitable. Moose, her dog, would concur.

The celebration and service of resurrection for Karen will be Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s UMC, 907 4th Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent via www.obrienfuneralhome.com.

Also, if you have had regular contact with Karen about church business, please address your regular communication to billings@gnjumc.org.
