The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the overall functioning of the Trinity United Methodist Church office. Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the administrative assistant is responsible for:

  • Maintaining an effective and efficient office environment
  • Scheduling and coordination of volunteers – office help, worship, etc.
  • Publishing bulletin and inserts for worship
  • Coordinating church calendar and building use
  • Handling incoming phone and e-mail inquiries and receiving “drop-in” visitors to the church office
  • Assisting the business administrator in maintaining the church database and maintaining up-to-date church directory
  • Serving as administrative assistant to the Lead Pastor (and assisting other staff as time permits with correspondence, scheduling, and other general administrative tasks)
  • Maintaining office equipment – computers, telephone system, copier(s), printer(s), etc. (scheduling maintenance, ordering cartridges, etc.)
  • Handling General Office tasks – including, but not limited to: filing, retrieving and distributing mail
  • Working with church committees – sending monthly meeting reminders, receiving, and filing minutes, etc.
  • Occasional tasks – including, but not limited to: coordinating, preparing, and printing reports for the annual Trinity church conference.
  • Preparing worship bulletins for occasional/seasonal services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, funerals, weddings, etc.)


  • Strong commitment, ethics, and character shown while working in a Christian setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, etc), phone systems, copy machines, PCs, and other general office machines and equipment.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with other computer programs for database management; willingness to learn and implement new programs when necessary.
  • Excellent organizational skills to efficiently run the church office.
  • Ability to communicate with a diversity of people including pastoral staff, office colleagues, church leaders, church members, and office visitors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretion in handling difficult situations.


  • Work 30 hours a week (ex: Mon – Fri 9 am – 3:00 pm)
  • Attend regular church staff meetings as requested.
  • Work overtime as required.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $31,200.00 per year

Experience: At least 1 year of work experience as an Administrative Assistant (Preferred)
