Rev. Dr. Juel Nelson

Director of Clergy Leadership Development

Juel coaches and encourages leaders to live into God’s greater vision. As a member of the Connectional Ministry Team, Juel designs and oversees clergy leadership programming to resource in areas such as spiritual servant leadership, emotional intelligence, change management, cultural competency, and church visioning. In supporting GNJ’s focus on recruiting and developing leaders, she serves alongside leaders of The Board of Ordained Ministry, Local Pastor Licensing School, Residency in Ministry, The Leadership Academy Preaching Institute, and The Clergy Seminar Cohorts. Juel, an Ordained Elder, has pastored congregations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She earned a Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Innovation from New York University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Joseph’s University, and a Certificate in Leadership from Cornell University. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Drew Theological School. Juel is a certified teacher and a coach and enjoys swimming, rowing, gardening, and residing at the Jersey Shore.
