On behalf of the Board of Ordained Ministry of Greater New Jersey, I extend gratitude for your service to God and God’s church through your ministry in this annual conference. I am writing to clarify the procedures for any who wish to make a change in their relationship with the Conference. Below are the timelines and basic processes for requests for particular actions. Any letters to the Board of Ordained Ministry should be sent to my attention at the address listed below.

Retirement (par. 358): The Board asks that all retirement requests be submitted by Dec. 1, 2018. Please send a letter to Bishop Schol, the Cabinet through your District Superintendent, and the Board of Ordained Ministry to my attention. You are also encouraged to contact the Board of Pensions representative in the conference office Alexa Taylor for guidance related to pension matters. Note: If you are already retired, you do not need to re-submit your request, as you are not seeking a change in conference membership.

Less than Full Time Service (par. 338.2): Three months (90 days) prior to the Annual Conference session (by Feb 17, 2019), please send a letter to Bishop Schol and the Board of Ordained Ministry to my attention requesting this status. This procedure also applies to those currently serving less than full time, who wish to continue in that status.

Leave of Absence (Personal and Family Leave, par. 354.3): Three months (90 days) prior to the Annual Conference session (by Feb 17, 2019), please send a letter to Bishop Schol, your District Superintendent, and the Board of Ordained Ministry to my attention outlining the reasons for your request. This procedure also applies to those currently on personal and family leave, who seek to continue in that status.

Those currently on leave of absence who wish to return to active service are to send a written request to the Board of Ordained Ministry six months (180 days) prior to the Annual Conference session (December 1, 2018).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
