Audubon United Methodist Church seeks a creative, effective, and enthusiastic leader interested in serving the youth and families of the community. The position involves introducing young people to Jesus Christ, facilitating their growth in relationship with Him, and becoming members of the local faith community. The Youth Ministry Coordinator will effectively implement programs that educate young people about the Lord in an enjoyable way.


  • Plan, implement, and build youth ministry programs that effectively educate youth about the Christian faith in ways that they enjoy
  • Build and invest in strong relationships with youth and their families to help them feel connected to faith community
  • Reflect constructively on successes and areas for improvement of youth ministry programs in order to provide ever-better programs in future
  • Recruit, motivate, and coordinate volunteers from the church to assist in youth ministry programs
  • Encourage youth to bring friends to ministry activities and join regular church worship with family members
  • Effectively advertise and communicate using telephone, email, and social media to encourage participation in youth ministry activities
  • Coordinate with pastor, other church staff, and volunteers to integrate youth ministry programs with other aspects of church ministry
  • Adhere to and enforce church policies such as Safe Sanctuary and driver policies
  • Effectively use budget provided for youth ministry
  • Attend worship at Audubon UMC whenever possible

  • Passionately loves helping young people encounter the Lord, surrender their lives to Him, and grow in their faith
  • Understands the importance of evangelism, prayer, Bible study, and Christian fellowship
  • Polite and responsible role model for young people
  • Relates well to people with and without church background
  • Appropriate educational and experiential background relevant to position
  • Minimum age of 23 years in compliance with Safe Sanctuary policy

Position Characteristics:

  • Reports to pastor
  • Works with pastor, other church staff, volunteers, and lay membership of church
  • Salary commensurate with experience and background
  • Average expectation of ten hours per week
