Position Summary
Summer Camp Waterfront Director oversee all lifeguards and waterfront activities and ensure a fun and safe experience. The Waterfront Director ensure the safety of all campers and camp leaders at the waterfront through watchfulness, assessments, and preparedness. This position may be combined with the Summer Camp Counselor position for additional pay.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure all necessary equipment is present and in good working order so that the waterfront is always and equipped and prepared for any situation
  • Ensure lifeguards carry out responsibilities in a professional manner and with excellence so that the waterfront is a safe and enjoyable environment
  • Develop & oversee systems for assessing swimming ability, designating swimming areas based on ability, and checking swimmers, following the provisions required by the state of New Jersey, so that swimmers are kept safe and can have an enjoyable waterfront experience
  • Know and be ready to oversee the implementation of the camp’s lost swimmer plan, conducting and documenting drills once every two weeks, so that waterfront staff are well-prepared and well-equipped to react instinctively to emergencies
  • Know New Jersey waterfront regulations and ensure they are followed so that campers have an enjoyable and safe waterfront experience that is in compliance with the law

Organization Responsibilities

  • Attend and be fully present for camp trainings, debriefs, and wrap-ups
  • Serve as a participant or as a leader on projects as assigned

Qualification

  • At least 18 years old
  • Clear background check record
  • Experience with children and youth, preferred
  • Familiarity with summer camp programming and operations preferred

Education and Skills

  • Lifeguard certification
  • Lifeguard Management certification
  • CPR certified
  • First-Aid certified
