The Journey of Hope plan names one of the five keystone measures as financial equity for low-income congregations and communities saying the following: “$4.1 million investment in the health and vitality of GNJ through debt forgiveness, equitable salary and shared ministry apportionment and billables in low-income communities and an additional $1 million for Native American sacred land/church preservation.”  To date, 66 qualifying congregations began receiving their decreased shared ministry apportionment and billables in July 2021, and 44 congregations have entered the debt forbearance program.

Clergy and congregations may reach out to their district superintendent to assess if you qualify for debt forgiveness or a reduction in shared ministry apportionments and billables.
