Preliminary 2021 Shared Ministry Calculation for your Church
The calculation is based on the formula which will be submitted to the Annual Conference in October which sets the Shared Ministry percentage at 15.2% of a congregation’s Shared Ministry base. That base is the total of a congregation’s expenses including lines 41a-47 of Table II of the local church statistical reports plus the billed amounts for the prior year’s Comprehensive Protection Plan (CPP), Clergy Retirement Security Program (CRSP), Health Insurance, Property Insurance and Workers’ Compensation.
If you want to request an appeal of your church’s 2021 Shared Ministry Assessment, the process below must be followed:
- Within 30 days, send an email to the Conference Treasurer and copy your District Superintendent, outlining the reason(s) and quantitative analysis for your appeal and requesting your district superintendent’s endorsement. Be sure to list the specific numerical errors in your statistical reports or billing calculations which resulted in an error in the Shared Ministry calculation. This letter must be received by October 13, 2020 to be considered.
- Your district superintendent will review your appeal request and determine whether she/he will endorse it.
- If your superintendent supports the request for appeal, she/he will forward your letter along with endorsement to me to present to the Council on Finance and Administration for their review and consideration.
All requests for appeal need to be submitted by October 13, 2020. No appeals for your 2021 Shared Ministry will be received or considered after October 13, 2020.
