What is the schedule for this workshop?

The basic schedule is as follows:

9:00 a.m. | Registration Begins
9:30 a.m. | Welcome and Opening Prayer
11:45 a.m. | Incoming Pastors invited to arrive (if not already present)
12:00 p.m. | Lunch (pastors move to their new churches for lunch and the afternoon session)
2:30 p.m. | Adjourn

Who should attend this workshop?
This event is for pastors and churches receiving a new appointment this year only. This is not an open event.

All pastors, incoming and outgoing, are required to attend this event. In addition, each church receiving a new appointment is asked to build a transition team of no more than 5 people. We suggest the following individuals attend:

  • Staff Parish Relations Chairperson
  • Church Council Chairperson
  • Lay Leader
  • Up to two other persons from the congregation that you believe are instrumental to a successful transition at your current church.

Pastors will work with their current church to build an appropriate team and register as a group using the registration form found on this page.

When is the Transition Workshop?
The entire transition team from each church must attend on the same day as the work is most effective when the teams can work together. Please select the one date that works for all or the majority of your team. 

Dietary concerns:
We are providing lunch at this event. The registration form asks you to note any known food allergies among your participants. We will do our best to accommodate all needs, however if any participant has extreme dietary restrictions, he or she is welcome to bring food. Refrigeration and heating by microwave or toaster oven is available to anyone who has a need.

Childcare NOT available:
Unfortunately we are unable to provide childcare for this event. Please plan accordingly.

During the workshop transitioning pastors will work with their current church in the morning, then move to their new church for lunch and the afternoon session. It is therefore ideal for both churches to register to attend on the same day; if the churches must attend on separate days, pastors are expected to be there for both meetings. It is the responsibility of the pastor to contact the new church to coordinate dates.  If you need contact information for your new church, please contact your Regional Administrator.
