Since September nearly 20 pastors have been meeting with District Superintendents Rev. Glenn Conaway and Rev. Brian Roberts monthly in a PaCE (Pursuing Clergy Excellence) to work together on practicing how to “Lead Like Wesley”. This event will help all that attend to learn how to apply Christian leadership principals that John Wesley created. We want to share what we have been learning and invite YOU to join us!
On April 24, Mark Gorveatte (author, co-found of the Center for Church Awakening” and past president of Kingswood University) will be at Trinity UMC in Mullica Hill leading us in a day long workshop based on his book “Lead Like Wesley”. The day is open to ALL pastors, staff and volunteers. The $10 registration fee covers coffee and refreshments from 8:30 to 9:00 am and lunch.
About the book: Two centuries ago, John Wesley famously composed Twelve Rules for helpers and pastors of his time who would follow in his ministry footsteps. To this day much wisdom is still gleaned from his leadership principles. In “Lead Like Wesley”, author Mark Gorveatte devotedly unpacks the heart of each rule, revealing how the timeless truths should no less inform and direct all good Christian leadership in this day and age. Each chapter is dedicated to one rule while it is supported by a key theme with its scriptural context and is thoughtfully considered in the light of contemporary research, making a compelling case for character-based leadership.
