Early Response Team: Re-Certification and Initial Training – MoorestownEvent Details
Amid disasters like Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy, UMCOR Early Response Teams are at the scene. Greater New Jersey trained more than 300 UMCOR Early Responders as a result of these disasters in our conference.
The time to think about these trainings is now, before the next disaster strikes. Under the UMCOR system, early responders cannot help unless they are trained. Classes are held 4-5 times a year throughout the conference.
Our mission is to provide a caring presence in the aftermath of a disaster. UMCOR guidelines enable a team to be productive and caring. Classes are taught by authorized UMCOR trainers, and team members are given ID badges as evidence of training, after background checks.
To maintain your UMCOR certification, a refresher class is required every three years. Pre-registration for these classes is required so that materials can be prepared in advance for those attending.
When people hurt, United Methodists help.
