Benefit Information for Employees Affected by COVID-19
Families First Coronavirus Response Act
Congress has passed and the President has signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act which will go into effect 4/1/2020.
This law will apply to all private and public employers with fewer than 500 employees.
The new law provides provisions to provide support for those impacted by the Coronavirus through the Emergency Paid Sick Leave and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Leave Act.

Please note employees will not be eligible to receive pay under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act if the employer closes the business or is asked to go on furlough due to lack of work. (this is addressed in details on questions 23-28) They must see if they are eligible and apply for Unemployment Benefits Insurance.
