From the desk of Rick Walker, UMM President

In Max Lucado's book, "Every Day Deserves a Chance" he writes:

Here's God's agenda for your day:
To make you more like Jesus.
"God?decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of His son" (Romans 8:29).
Do you see what God is doing?
Shaping you "along the same lines as the life of His son."
Jesus felt no guilt; God wants you to feel no guilt.
Jesus had no bad habits; God wants to do away with yours.
Jesus faced fears with courage; God wants you to do the same.
Jesus knew the difference between right and wrong; God wants us to know the same.
Jesus served others and gave his life for the lost; We can do likewise.
Jesus dealt with anxiety about death, you can too.
God's desire, His plan, His ultimate goal is to make you into the image of Christ.

Why can't we be more like Jesus?  There is no reason why not.  We also can share this with our brothers in our churches.  We can shape the lives of other men and they also can help shape our lives.  Advocating United Methodist Men in your local church will do this.  Men need to fellowship, prayer, worship and share with one another.

Thanks to all the churches that have "chartered" men's groups.  Thanks also to those churches that have men?s meetings, gatherings, bible studies, etc.  One more thanks to the churches that their men meet with one or several other churches.

There are many stories to be told from the local church regarding their men's ministry and mission projects.  We need to be sharing these stories with one another.  Please forward to my conference e-mail address listed above your church's stories.  What your church is doing may help another church.

We no longer have yesterday.  We do not yet have tomorrow.  We only have today.  This is the day the Lord has made.  Live in it.

Saturate your day in His grace....Entrust your day to his oversight?..Accept his direction.

Your brother in Christ
