Laity Session: 7 - 9 PM
Rev. Jim Walker is a United Methodist Pastor at the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community, Pittsburg, PA (look at the video at the website). Hot Metal Bridge is an "emerging" or "missional church." Jesus taught the people that followed Him by telling stories about the world around Him. In the same way Hot Metal Bridge uses drama as a way of sharing the stories of the Bible in new and relevant ways. Hot Metal Bridge has a weekly homeless ministry, hosting a twice weekly free meal that is provided by various volunteer groups and churches from the Pittsburgh area. They have youth and children's minnstry every Sunday. Hot Metal has also built an ongoing relationship with a church in Mexico. The trips not only provide a set of working hands, but they also help financially support the minstry as a whole.
Pastor Jim is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church who works with the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the UMC doing congregational development. He is a graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (2003) and received his undergraduate degree from Point Park College in Pittsburgh (1991). He lives in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh with his wife Brenda and their two children, Carlisle and Daniel.
