UMCOM Launches Website Hosting for Local Churches

The General Board of Global Ministries has been offering free web hosting to churches for more than 12 years. What began as an effort to help churches gain a foothold in cyberspace with a basic webpage has grown to the point that they can no longer support the current website needs of many churches. And so, the agency, in the spirit of shared services, has partnered with United Methodist Communications to offer a vastly enhanced system that will be managed and controlled by United Methodist Communications. The current hosting service will come to an end on September 30, 2013.

On July 1, 2013, United Methodist Communications officially launched a new website-management solution. Through this partnership, United Methodist churches will continue to experience a reliable and affordable platform for effective web ministry.

These new state-of-the-art solutions are built on the world-leading power of WordPress. Various affordable plans will be available providing features such as:
  • United Methodist Church-branded site design templates;
  • Google Apps accounts for email and online document collaboration;
  • United Methodist-sponsored content; and
  • Instant, automatic site setup.
