Open House - You're Invited

Dear Pastor,

Greetings in the name of our Incarnate Lord!

We wish to make you aware of a special opportunity to make this Black History month extra special. The African American Methodist Heritage Center and the General Church Archives Commission are joining together to offer a unique but powerful one day experience for local Churches and individuals.

The Heritage Center has as its purpose to assure that the many contributions of African Americans and their institutions are not forgotten, so that our children's children will know "how they got over." The only way a people can find identity and purpose is to know their story.

All interested persons are invited to come to your Archives Center on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. till 2:00 pm.

Those who attend will:

  • Worship together around the thematic Biblical stories undergirded by history.
  • Fellowship and eat together with others striving to preserve the history of African Americans in Methodism.
  • Hear presentations on preservation, restoring, cataloguing and displaying that history.
  • See AV's that embellish the story.
  • Peruse various artifacts, pictures, and memorabilia in the Archives building.
